Riga was one of the largest and most advanced industrial and port cities in the pre-World War I era. This epoch generated an important architectural heritage that forms a large part of the city’s collective identity. The site on which we intervene is part of this heritage: once an important logistics hub of the city it retains a strong recognizability for the community. Furthermore, the recent Hanza Perons adaptive reuse has transformed the former goods warehouse into a lively platform for culture, art and other events.

At the heart of this landscape intervention is the large square, designed to be a welcoming and structured space that serves as a stopover for residents and visitors as they engage in activities throughout this part of the city.
This accessible landscape fosters meaningful interactions with the vegetated areas, where the garden goes beyond mere decoration or ecological function to create connections among different users of the square.

The new Parco Pitteri has a triangular shape with three main access points: the first from the public use area to the east, via the bridge over the Roggia Molinara; the second from Via Camillo Otto Cima, which serves as both a pedestrian and bicycle access and a maintenance entrance; and the third, to the north, which is currently interrupted. This northern connection is pending the extension of the park along the municipal property, as planned by the local administration, to link it with the Parco della Lambretta.
Within the park, organic shapes define small areas designed for free play or relaxation, as well as a large open space intended to serve as a focal point for residents.

The intervention involves Via Sannio, Via Colletta, Via Tacito, Via Tertulliano, and Via Cadolini, stitching together currently fragmented urban fabrics and establishing a network of interconnected, sustainable, and accessible public spaces.

The new Tvetsnoy park is like a large natural balcony over the Oktha River, a great opportunity to create a meeting place with nature and a place of integration between the inhabitants of the neighborhoods that are under construction and planned. The limit of the city gives it the characteristic of being the opportunity to define a clear urban margin with the natural environment.

The project area, is not fully occupied by the building that defines. Its vivacious geometry is opening synergistically new environments to the urban context. The new outdoor space trace the relationships between the size of the park and the consolidated urban pattern. It is an urban building, strongly related to the city, place where you can show the culture of Bauhaus as urban culture in continuity with the history and the context in which it appears.
