The landscape project for Via Mentana 30 in Monza transforms the urban courtyard into a multifunctional space that harmoniously blends private and communal uses, while fostering social interaction and ecological value. The design is structured around five main areas. The entrance garden, situated along Via Mentana, serves as a semi-public space that establishes a connection with the urban fabric. Transition gardens, located along the building's perimeter, provide a buffer zone that balances privacy for ground-floor residences with shared green spaces. These areas are characterized by hedges, clusters of Acer campestre, and smaller trees and shrubs, creating a dynamic interplay between built and natural elements. The central courtyard, the heart of the project, is designed as a lush green hub for communal activities, ranging from children’s play to small gatherings. This space features shade-tolerant plants, Acer palmatum, and carefully selected shrubs and perennials to create a serene yet functional environment. The shared rooftop terrace on the third floor introduces a vertical dimension to the project. Designed as a green roof, it accommodates small trees, shrubs, and planting beds for aromatic herbs and bulbs, offering residents an opportunity to engage with gardening and enjoy outdoor spaces for leisure or work. Finally, the vegetated crowning layer at the top of the building contributes to its architectural identity and promotes biodiversity. It features small shrubs, grasses, and perennials, with carefully planned access for maintenance.
