The design focuses on << space inside space >>, in which it is possible to read the common area in continuity with the individual one. The spaces are designed following some principles:
Space inside space: organizing the common areas and the individual ones inside a distinguishable frame.
Frame and container: integrate a continuous system those dimensionally-significant elements.
System micro-variations: highlight the optional elements of the system.
Decompose and recompose: providing the system with a high adaptability in order to utilize it in different contexts.
Global image: characterising the spaces with a colour palette, varying according to rooms and at the same time able to give a recognisable and repeatable overall image.
The furniture has been conceived as an open system featuring all the functional elements; it defines the difference between the personal and the common spaces.
The colour palette can change from room to room; with the same logic, it is possible to characterize every single hostel or unify them with a unique chromatic set.
The materials have been kept simple in the design, ecological, low-cost and easy to maintain.
