The project proposal is a planimetrically simple building that organizes the 14 lodgings in a volume articulated in the voids and in the form of the roof. The volumes that "empty" the full volume, inserted to the east and west, create three internal elevations: one very closed and isolated to the north, one fragmented by the windowed openings towards the spaces communicates east and west, and a very open south front marked by loggia balconies shaped to multiply the views and perspectives from inside the accommodation.

The roof rests on the volume creating a skyline that interacts with the profile of the mountains and changes geometry from every point of view and adapts to solar radiation in order to make it more available in the courts. The balconies are enriched with potential outdoor spaces that can become large shaped wardrobes for containing everyday objects and more, in order to expand the availability of support space to the residence, very useful especially to smaller accommodations. The supporting structure is developed on a structural grid for point supports on orthogonal axes. The darker outer casing in contrast with the white of the loggias and the paddles increases the availability of reflected light and creates a contrasting pattern between full and empty different for each prospectus. All accommodations are designed to ensure privacy and reduce introspection between them.

The geographical and climatic conditions of Silandro (720 slm; climate zone F, low winter rainfall) and the orientation of the lot have influenced some morphological choices. The project proposal organizes the residential spaces in a massive building with a south-north orientation and access from the north. The full volume is interrupted by two voids that create two open but intimate courtyards, so as to allow a greater number of "day" fronts facing south. The protected entrance leads to a large atrium that distributes 4 apartments on the ground floor and 5 apartments on every other floor distributed vertically by an in-line staircase. The dwellings intended for disadvantaged users are on the ground floor and on the first floor, all the accommodations are adaptable. The vertical distribution is ensured by an elevator that connects all the floors to the garage floor and cellars, and from two staircases one that from the ground floor goes to the basement and the other, in line, which from the ground floor leads to the first and on the second floor. The two staircases separated one from the other allow for greater constructive compactness between floors above ground and basement as well as greater fire safety. The horizontal distribution is in fact a volume in itself that is oriented with the views in the courts, from the ground floor of the distribution room it is possible to go out into the common parts of the garden. In the basement there are rooms accessible also from the outside, for the plants; plant distribution is rationalized with the positioning of internal services to housing so as to avoid excessive constructive complexity. The covers can house solar and photovoltaic production plants.
