The "Cristallo" park is in continuity with the Lambretta park and within the Lambro river park system, it contains the majestic structure of the "Palazzo" which is maintained and recovered as a splendid scenography in which vegetal backdrops and backdrops evoke Magnifica Fabbrica and the Scala Laboratories, to the representation of the city, its territory and its culture and art. The project preserves the structure of the "palace" as a spatial ordering layout of a green container, of memory and the future, organized to welcome the city, the city users, and the spontaneous or organized activities within an important green setting. A park in an urban system but also an opportunity for urban plant regeneration. The structure of the park, the border areas, and the project perimeter take into great consideration, with design hypotheses adapted to the context, the need to govern the water regime of the area and the changes introduced by the new building, inserting layouts and effective areas to ensure water permeability and rainwater control (floodable areas, bioswales, drainage channels). The soil of the park will be permeable for more than 90% of the surface with the removal of the existing waterproof pavements replaced with permeable and natural materials. The design of the park is influenced by the different relationships with the parts it involves, it is more regular inside the "Palazzo di Cristallo" and more fluid in the external parts, both are spatially marked by rows of trees, crossed by paths between vegetable scenes, which modify their linear layout, generating a greater volumetric tree density in correspondence with an expansion of the voids prepared to accommodate free activities. The boundaries of the park are treated as areas of transition and spatial and vegetal mediation with the context; to the north, a large field of grasses marked by pedestrian paths and a long water collection ditch heralds agricultural crops. The limit to the west towards the city and under the structure of the ring road is defined by a system of "urban-street sports" equipment marked by bright colors and space for street art, while on the border with the Lambretta park, a large green strip of perennial plants connects the different levels of the soil. To the south and east, a landscape of environmental mitigation will be created with pedestrian and cycle paths juxtaposed by trees and bioswales or rain gardens. To the east of the new park, the existing embankment will be an area, after the necessary maintenance and plant integration, dedicated to maintaining the biodiversity that has been generated spontaneously. An active, dynamic park capable of welcoming, in the rich biodiversity of the Milanese environmental and climatic context, contemporary, creative landscapes and an expression of the culture of urban regeneration.
