The project, following the site reference is directed to set up a eco-friendly and sustainable residential complex in a position to present environmental quality levels and welfare of the inhabitants, comparable to those obtained in some of the most advanced European experiences and unfortunately still partially and tentatively explored Italy.
The intervention was seized as an opportunity to open a discussion on how human activities can develop new strategies of living and create new high quality urban life landscapes in and a low impact on natural capital, in which the social, economic and environmental investment is balanced.
The building was conceived as an open, alive and "working" body, in close dialogue with the surrounding environment, designed to provide meeting space for the inhabitants and in a rational way to exploit the natural resources, reducing the overall costs in terms of energy and environmental impact.
The continuous search for balance between building /inhabitant/environment generates a series of such architectural and typological features thus avoiding to impose at all costs, an "environmentally sustainable" image of the building .
