The project is developed within the PRIN Project Research for "innovation and sustainability" building in which the Milan City Council has requested the project for the Brivio Street Kindergarten. The school consists of three sections of kindergarten and three Nursery is designed where the old school was burned. This project builds on the idea of a strong construction flexibility with low energy consumption, as class “A” (approx 0.23 kWh/m2 year) and a strong integration of the interior with the exterior. Inside, in addition to administrative offices is also included a baby parking that serves to extend the connection time between family and school and also provide a reference point for families.
The peculiarity of the project has also allowed the inclusion of innovative solutions for natural ventilation with a solar chimney located on the roof which will further enhance the thermal performance of the building.
The project is EUROSOLAR Italy 2006 Prize winner and honorable mention at the Next Energy 2008.
